TRA-Approved Skills Assessments for Skilled Migration
William Angliss Institute is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), authorised by Trades Recognition Australia (TRA) to conduct skills assessments under the Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) and Offshore Skills Assessment Program (OSAP). We help international and onshore candidates in Australia prove they can work at the required Australian trade level in culinary, patisserie, and baking occupations.

Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) and Offshore Skills Assessment Program (OSAP)
TSS Skills Assessment
This program is for candidates applying for the Skills in Demand (SID) visa (subclass 482) who are working in a nominated occupation and hold a passport from a TRA-nominated country or Special Administrative Region (SAR).
OSAP Skills Assessment
This program is for OSAP-nominated country candidates applying for a skilled migration visa (excluding subclass 485 and TSS visas) to work in a nominated occupation.
Applicants who are not required by the Department of Home Affairs to obtain a skills assessment, but wish to opt-in, may also apply under OSAP.
You do not need to be offshore to apply - onshore applicants in Australia are eligible.
What is Pathway 1 and Pathway 2?
- Most common pathway for international applicants.
- Focus: Demonstrating your trade skills align with Australian commercial standards.
- Successful candidates receive both a TRA Skills Assessment Outcome Letter and a formal Australian qualification from William Angliss Institute.
- Total fee: AUD $3,120
- Focus: Demonstrating the application of workplace skills in an Australian commercial kitchen or commercial retail bakery.
- Total fee: AUD $2,020
Am I Eligible to Apply?
- Demonstrate at least 12 months of full-time paid employment in the nominated occupation within the last 3 years prior to application.
- For Baker, Cook, or Pastrycook:
- With formal training → minimum 3 years total full-time relevant experience
- Without formal training → minimum 5 years total full-time relevant experience
- For Chef or Pastry Chef:
- At least 12 months in a senior role with supervisory or management responsibilities
- Overall cumulative experience: minimum 3 years (with formal training) or 5 years (without formal training), showing clear progression to senior positions.
How to Apply – 4 Simple Steps
1: Pre-Assessment
Submit current CV for review followed by high-resolution scans of your documents (employment and income evidence, passport, qualifications, menus, photos/videos) to the SharePoint folder we provide.

Email skills.assessment@angliss.edu.au once uploaded. We will review and respond within 5–10 business days.
Step 2: Invitation to Apply + Documentary Evidence Assessment (DEA)
If eligible, you receive instructions to apply with the correct DEA Payment Identifier. Register, pay directly to TRA and submit your full application.
Step 3: Technical Interview
After successful DEA, receive the next payment identifier for the Technical Interview fee and attend the interview.
Step 4: TRA Outcome
TRA makes the final decision. WAI issues official TRA outcome. Successful Pathway 1 applicants also receive an AQF qualification from William Angliss Institute.
