Academic Profile - Birgitta March

Lecturer Tourism & Hospitality Management

Biography

Birgitta is a Lecturer in the Faculty of Higher Education with over twenty years of experience in tourism management education. Her academic and professional teaching experience spans Australia, TimorLeste, and NEOM in Saudi Arabia, demonstrating a strong international and cross-cultural perspective. She specialises in tourism and tour guiding education and has contributed to scholarly publications in this field. 

In addition to her academic appointments, Birgitta has maintained active engagement with the tourism industry as a small business tour operator and multilingual tour guide. She is also the lead content developer for Tour Guides Australia’s micro-credential course, a Queensland Government-sponsored program that has been delivered successfully for more than two years. 

Birgitta is currently undertaking a PhD focusing on Bridging the Disconnect Between Victorian TAFE Tourism Training and Indigenous Communities. Her personal interests centre on travelling to community-based, responsible, and sustainable tourism destinations.

Birgitta is a polyglot, fluent in five languages.
